Friday Haiku on Lose/Mere/Native

Lose

She has flown away
To visit the grandchildren
They win and I lose

You can lose so much
Mobility.. confidence..
Yet gain in insight

On World News nightly
Hear about all those we lose
Each one personal

Mere

Lake marked the border
Guarding us like a mother
Merely symbolic

Childhood rice pudding
The merest hint of nutmeg
And loads of sugar

Merest breath of wind
Fleeting patterns on the mere
Merely surface deep

Native

Tropical Island
Entices to go native
She still wore her hat

Native tongue English
Includes Greek, German, Latin
Such a polyglot

Aboriginal
Two hundred native word groups
Never one nation
